Europe’s Ryder Cup hero Ian Poulter is back in action in 2013 season at Hawaii’s Hyundai Tournament of Champions this week. Sadly forfans, this is his only appearance till late February!?
The thirty six year old golfer has been playing down his opportunities in the build up to £ 3.5 million event. Recently, the English golfer took to Twitter and said: ‘I wouldn’t be picking me in any fantasy pick or bet this week even with my own money. Slapping it, It’s been a good Christmas.’
Poulter is facing off against a whole host of other tournament winners, so it’s no real wonder that the online betting firm Unibet have preferred the chances of Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy over Poulters. None the less, Poulter is a man who can beat anyone on his day, and shouldn’t be completely ruled out!
Ian, who qualified with the 2nd World Golf Championships win in November in Shanghai, had a tough end in the last season and after this tour he will not be playing in a competitive field again till the opening round of Accenture Match Play on 20th February in Arizona. Tis is a very easy schedule and he will play in just 2 tournaments before the US Masters takes place in April.
Apart from Jim Furyk, Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson, 9 American golfers who were in the 2012 Ryder Cup team will also play in 2013 season’s first event, with the likes of Sergio Garcia, Justin Rose, Luke Donald and Rory McIlroy.
