Nobody (and we mean NOBODY) is a bigger ‘Suits’ fan than Marcus Byrd

December 14, 2023

It’s a yuuuuuge week for prospective PGA Tour players across the country. For the first time in over a decade, Q-School Final Stage will offer players honest-to-goodness PGA Tour cards. The top five finishers at TPC Sawgrass and Sawgrass Country Club this week will earn their golden tickets, while the next 40 earn guaranteed starts on the Korn Ferry Tour. Whether you’re an up and coming golfer fresh out of school or a former pro down on his luck, this week means everything.

Just ask Marcus Byrd. That is, if you can get him to stop talking about ‘Suits’ for a second.

In the history television—from ‘Twilight Zone’ to ‘True Detective,’ ‘M*A*S*H’ to ‘Mad Men’—there has never been a bigger ‘Suits’ fan than Byrd. While talking his fellow players’ ears off about the USA Network legal drama, the mini-tour pro says he started the show a month ago and is already on season six. Later, he tells the cameras tailing him for an upcoming PGA Tour documentary that his “goal” for the weekend—you know, apart from earning a PGA Tour card—is to finish the season before the tournament’s end.

“I’ll probably end stretching and watching some more ‘Suits’ though,” he says. “I think I watched like eight episodes yesterday when I got home … ah, I think it was like six.”

Don’t let Byrd’s ‘Suits’ habit fool you, however. He’s still one of the hardest workers out there, showing up ready to grind before the range and cafeteria were even open earlier in the week.

As you can see, that plan backfired, but look on the bright side, Marcus: Getting up early means more time for ‘Suits.’
